Urban gardening DIY projects
There are different ways to give fall leaves a second life. It is possible to compost them, of course, but have you ever thought of using them to decorate? Here are four easy-to-make DIY projects to add a quirky touch to your Halloween decor.
leafy hedgehogs
Kids will love it for sure!
Material : sheets, colored construction paper, markers, glue, scissors
Steps : Cut out the shape of a hedgehog from a sheet of construction paper. Then draw a pretty little face and stick a few leaves on the body, with the tips facing up. It’s that easy, and you can do as many as you want!
leafy pumpkin
This year, decorate your pumpkins differently!
Material : pumpkins, non-toxic paint and glue, brushes, leaves
Steps : Paint your pumpkin a color that will contrast with your leaves. After the paint has dried, apply a light coat of glue and attach the leaves to the surface in any way you like. When you are done and everything is dry, you can reapply a little glue over the leaves using a brush. This will help keep them in place.
Light string
Give your fairy lights a fall look with this simple DIY idea.
Material : string lights, wax paper, iron, strong glue, leaves
Steps : To start, place leaves between two layers of waxed paper and iron until they are sufficiently covered with wax. This will preserve them longer. Next, apply a little glue to the socket of each bulb and glue a leaf to it, completely covering the socket and the bulb. Once complete, use your garland to add some warmth and color to a room!
Mobile with branch and leaves
Looking for a super easy DIY project to make with the kids? You found!
Material : a small branch, leaves, string (transparent or not), scissors
Steps : Start by making sure your branch is the desired length. Think about where you will hang your mobile when finished. Tie one end of string to the stem of each leaf, and the other end to the branch. Create the desired effect by using different lengths of string. You can install your masterpiece indoors or outdoors.
Happy DIY!
