It is an understatement to say that Chris Evans played a very important role in popularizing the MCU. By playing Captain America, he brought to light one of the franchise’s most important superheroes along with Iron Man. Since, Avengers: Endgamehe however passed the torch to Sam Wilson played by Anthony Mackie.
Audiences would love to see Steven Rogers return to Marvel
However, we do not get rid of Steven Rogers and his interpreter so simply. Rumors are rife about a possible return. So much so that the question was even posed to Anthony Mackie during an interview he gave to E ! News. According to him, there is very little chance that we will find Chris Evans at Marvel. He explains thus:
Chris is so far from Marvel. Marvel is not even in its range. He is so far away. He enjoys life. He is like an old retiree.
He also specifies that he has kept very close ties with the latter and Sebastian Stan who plays Bucky Barnes in the MCU: “ It’s not often that you meet people you work with who you genuinely miss and consider friends. Fortunately, between the three of us, we are really close. We spend time together and we celebrate birthdays together “.
In the past, Chris Evans himself had already addressed the question of a return and he was then very cautious: ” It seems like something people would like to see. I don’t want to disappoint anyone but it’s difficult… (…) It would have to be perfect. It would just be scary to upset something that is, again, so important to me. So, to revisit this character, it would really take a great project. »
It therefore does not close the door to a comeback, but it still seems quite complicated to implement. One thing is in any case certain, we will find his designated successor Sam Wilson, alias Falcon, in the feature film Captain America: New World Order. It already has a release date in France: May 1, 2024. By then, many Marvel films and series will be released and you can find a complete schedule here.
