A few days ago, Paris hosted the 2022 edition of the famous Mondial de l’Auto. An unmissable event for all car enthusiasts for more than 100 years, but which, due to Covid, had seen its previous editions cancelled… In the midst of the fuel crisis, the show was however able to be held in 2022, extending over a week, ending on October 23. A shorter edition compared to 2018 (then spanning 13 days), which had many absentees, but also some new features, such as the presence of the Vilebrequin team, which shook the walls (and twisted some eardrums) with his 1000tipla.

Just under 400,000 onlookers for the 2022 Paris Motor Show

A show that has obviously been talked about internationally, and despite the absence of certain manufacturers (BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan, Jaguar, Fiat, etc.), the Paris Motor Show 2022 has notably enabled Renault to formalize its future 4L, which will take on the appearance of a 100% electric SUV. Added to this is the offensive of Chinese manufacturers such as BYD and WEY, which are preparing to intensify their presence in Europe from 2023. For this 89th edition of the Paris Motor Show, the organizers were counting on an objective from 350,000 to 400,000 visitors.

A successful bet, since it is very precisely 397,812 curious people who were seduced by this Mondial de l’Auto vintage 2022 (to which are added 3,000 accredited professionals). “Attendance exceeds the initial objectives planned, for a show which is now held over seven days“, specified the Hopscotch agency, which organized this 89th show with the Platform of the Automobile (PFA). By way of comparison, the 2018 edition, which was held in a much more favorable context, had welcomed more than a million visitors.

In their defense, the organizers estimate that more than 60% of visitors this year were from the Ile-de-France, while the provincials were the majority in previous editions. There is a simple reason for this, the fuel crisis, which obviously deterred many interested parties from going to Paris.

The organizers obviously wanted to formalize the 2024 edition of this same Paris Motor Show as of now. Thus, car enthusiasts will be delighted to learn that the 90th edition of the show is scheduled for October 2024, with a format which would once again be shortened to one week, namely from October 14 to 20, 2024. An edition which, as we can easily imagine, should give an even more important place to electro-mobility.
