After nearly 60 years of broadcasting, Doctor Who is a giant of pop culture in the world. While a fourteenth season is in the works, the BBC and Disney have found common ground. The two giants sign a historic partnership. Mickey’s firm gets its hands on Doctor Who and will stream the next adventures of the Doctor on Disney+.
Doctor Who is coming to Disney+
A new era awaits Doctor Who. This year, fans were treated to three special episodes. These are the bridge between season 13 broadcast last year and the next season which will be released next year. With exceptional revelations… But there are pretty things that await them soon.
Indeed, from next year, the actor Ncuti Gatwa, who in particular embodies Eric in Sex Education, will take over and don the costume of the Fifteenth Doctor. We got our first look at the actor in this new role when a teaser aired this weekend.
Waiting for the arrival of season 14 of Doctor Who on our screens, Disney and BBC announced good news. It’s now official: Disney+ will be “the exclusive platform for future seasons of Doctor Who outside the UK and Ireland” from 2023.

With this major agreement, the two entertainment giants aim to transform Doctor Who, which is already a pop culture landmark, into a global franchise for fans in the UK and around the world. With a few hundred episodes on the clock, Doctor Who plunges us into the adventures of a being capable of traveling through time and space.
If the first 10 seasons of Doctor Who are currently available on Prime Video, this agreement suggests that the entire series should soon arrive on Disney +. Mickey’s streaming platform has a golden opportunity given the popularity of Doctor Who in the whole world.
Whereas Doctor Who will celebrate its 60th anniversary (yes, already) next year, we imagine that the BBC and Disney have other surprises in store for fans of the science fiction series. According to their press release, the adventure Doctor Who is far from over. And that’s great news for science fiction fans!
