Last Sunday, HBO aired the final episode of Season 1 of House of the Dragon. The Game of Thrones prequel has clearly succeeded in its mission, and viewers have clearly enjoyed these ten episodes. We also really liked this spin-off and you can also read our group review here. The finale also got an excellent rating on the Rotten Tomatoes platform.
Bad news for House of the Dragon fans
While this conclusion leaves us in a very tense situation, fans are therefore wondering when we will be able to see the continuation of the series. Casey Bloys, the content director of HBO, has just answered this question, and he does not have very good news to announce to us.
Interviewed by the American specialized media vulnerabilityhe explains as follows:
Don’t expect it to be 2023, it will be 2024 instead. We’re just starting to put the plan in place, and like last time, there are so many unknowns. It’s not about being shy or secretive, but you don’t want to announce it’s going to be ready on a specific date, and then have to postpone it.
In addition to this important announcement, the leader also discussed the second Game of Thrones spin-off dedicated to Jon Snow. He clarifies in this regard: I think the next step would probably be House of the Dragon season 2. I try not to comment too much on the development so there isn’t much to say except that when we find the story that suits George RR Martin and satisfies us we will go forward. »
In the past, George RR Martin has already commented on the series House of the Dragon enthusiastically. He thus congratulated himself: The series started strong and only got stronger. Thank you to all of you who watch and participate in its popularity. And thank you also to our amazing cast and crew. »
He also added: Westeros, like the real world, is full of complex characters capable of both good and evil. (…) I hope you enjoy House of the Dragon as much as I do…. the best is yet to come. And then on to season 2! »
