what is this movie that brings together all the “losers” of Marvel?

Last September, Disney organized a large conference which allowed him to say more about his cinematographic projects. Among the announcements, the film Thunderbolts surprised observers. This Marvel film, which will be part of the MCU, already has a release date in France: July 24, 2024.

Thunderbolts will rhyme with comedy and action

For the rest, the entertainment giant has been rather stingy with information, but we still know that it is a team of Marvel supervillains and anti-heroes who will try to redeem themselves within the framework secret missions. Of course, this is reminiscent of the Suicide Squad, its equivalent at DC Comics.

Among the confirmed participants, we find in particular the Winter Soldier, John Walker, Taskmaster, Ghost, or even Red Guardian, the Soviet equivalent of Captain America. And precisely, David Harbour, his interpreter on the screen, recently confided in this project.

The actor, well known for his role in the series Stranger Thingsparticipated in the Phase Zero podcast of our colleagues from ComicBook.com. About the film, he explains: “We are like losers, which I like. We are the losers. I think it’s funny to see us screw it up. It’s very funny, there’s also a lot of pathos in there. There’s a lot of drama in a group of people who keep making mistakes in their lives and who, because of their character flaws, keep screwing things up. »

He adds : “They are not given the same respect as Captain America and Iron Man, very capable people. So there’s a lot to take away from that. I think the movies are going to be a lot of fun. There’s all this heart-pounding action and cool comedy, from what I’ve been told. »

Marvel has already found Thanos’ replacement

Besides, Thunderbolts already has a pretty impressive cast. In addition to David Harbour, we will thus find Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, or even Harrison Ford who has just joined the Disney franchise.

We will understand, Thunderbolts is still a distant project for Marvel. The next MCU movie is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which will be released in theaters on February 15, 2023. It will notably feature Kang the Conqueror, the villain supposed to replace Thanos. Studio executives are counting on him a lot, and we were telling you about it here.
