As we mentioned in a previous article, BeReal went from 7.9 million users to 20 million in just a few months. At the beginning of 2021, this social network, which defines itself as an anti-Instagram, had only 10,000 users.
BeReal is a hit in the United States
At the end of the year, Google and Apple publish their lists of the best applications of the year. And of course, BeReal, which distinguished itself during the year 2022, appears in these lists.
The list of 2022 App Store Awards winners includes 16 games and apps (including iPhone, iPad, Mac apps and games, and even Apple TV). Google also announced the winners of the Play Store in 2022, which not only includes apps for Android smartphones, but also apps designed for tablets, Chrome OS, and connected watches. Indeed, seeing that the idea of BeReal is a hit, these two social networks were inspired by it to launch a similar feature. Moreover, some media found it funny that Instagram is inspired by a new platform that positions itself precisely as the anti-Instagram.
Now it remains to be seen whether BeReal will continue to grow. Indeed, the social network could experience the same trajectory as TikTok. But this one could also end up like Clubhouse and other social networks that had huge short-lived successes.
