Have you ever wondered if it was possible to cross an entire country by Uber? And how much would it cost you? The French branch of the company has the answer to your questions and the best thing is certainly to look into its retrospective for the year 2022. This year, a lot has happened on the VTC application. Starting with a new record journey of over 1,000 kilometres. The story revealed this week by the company is quite funny.
From Paris to Barcelona, a customer ordered a 1,097 kilometer ride on Uber. The reason ? The man, an American, is said to have chosen to travel to the Catalan city as his flight to Paris for the United States had just been cancelled. To return urgently, he had not hesitated to put his hand in his pocket and undertake a long journey of more than 10 hours with his driver to catch the next plane.
Uber says the final bill was 1,411 euros – a price that explains why the driver accepted the ride. Because it must be taken into account that the latter had to make the return trip (certainly without anyone on board). Is this the longest journey? Well no. In France the record is held by another race. A client in 2020 had decided to connect Marseille to Plumieux in Brittany. The municipality of destination only has a few hundred inhabitants. In all, 1,129 kilometers covered!
In the end, journeys from or to airports are generally the most likely to be long. In the ranking this year, Uber also lists a trip from Nice to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport (975 kilometers), or from Nice airport to Paris city hall (921 kilometers). Note that if the idea crosses your mind, it will still be necessary for a driver to be available and for the ceiling of your credit card to be high enough.
To do the test on our side, we tried to plan a trip from Lisbon (where we are writing this article) to Paris. On the application, the estimate is not long in being displayed: by recording its race at 5:30 p.m. in Lisbon, Uber estimates that we should be in Paris the next day at 12:25 p.m. As for the prices:

5 births aboard Uber
The other crazy statistics of Uber in 2022 are in particular on the side of births on board. We thus learn that 5 children were actually born during an Uber trip in France this year, to bring the total since the VTC application is in France to 17 births. The company does not indicate whether it will offer them unlimited access, as airlines can do when a birth takes place in one of its planes.
Finally, the biggest tip in an Uber in 2022. The latter took place in Bordeaux, when a customer gave his driver a tip of €50.21 for the trip made. We don’t know how much it cost him in the first place. And we do not hope that it is the same client to have completed the shortest race in France this year: only 400 meters.
