Streamers Want To Stop Cyberbullying With ‘Peace Square’
At the end of October, after a new wave of cyberbullying, Maghla, a French streamer on Twitch, decided to speak out. She shares on twitter messages received daily. Following his testimony, the word is released and it is the whole small world of entertainment on Twitch who seizes the subject.
I’m tired and it’s time for me to explain.
I’ve been streaming for years and open my mouth about 10% max of the problem, because apparently you have to ignore it for it to pass.⬇️⬇️⬇️

On the side of the victims, an idea comes back. They do not have sufficiently powerful tools to combat these waves of cyberbullying. From this observation will be born “Place de la paix”. On the initiative of “Billy”, a French streamer, the tool should make it possible to delete messages “hateful, sexist, misogynistic and racist”.
The whole point of a public platform like “Place de la paix” is to create a common “file database”. It will make it possible to do a work of common banishment. In practice, if a misplaced message is posted in a chatmoderators can report it to a bot.
“Place de la paix”: collective intelligence on the move
He will then take care of blocking this account on all the streams of the partner personalities. Acting as a surveillance turret, this tool should help to reduce inappropriate messages in the chat on Twitch. When a message is spotted and deleted by the bot, the user is blocked from the entire network for 24 hours. A manual verification will then take place, making it possible to confirm or invalidate the robot’s decision.
This solution shows the limitations of Twitch. Streamers don’t have the solutions to fight cyberbullying. While these personalities interact directly with their community, via the chat, the tools at their disposal to control the latter are very slim.
Last June, Twitch wanted to be reassuring, signing the European Union’s code of conduct against online hate. Last December, Twitch launched an automatic detection system for problematic accounts. Since this summer, it is possible to share the pseudonyms of 30 accounts banned from a channel.
Twitch is trying, but it’s too little
This solution, although welcomed by a large part of the community, is not sufficient, which gave the idea to “Billy” alias Billal Hakkar to launch Place de la paix. In a series of tweets presenting this feature, he nevertheless explains that checks and balances exist.
To sum up, the tool only intervenes and has its place in the cases mentioned above. Any other ban will only concern the channel of the streamer / streamer in question

the bot will not be able to report a user’s behavior if their message is not racist, misogynistic or sexist. Place de la paix will not take into account other ban reasons on Twitch. They will remain the sole responsibility of the streamer.
